Cancer Survivor Issie Pelc is RUNNING A MARATHON A
MONTH for 3 years!

Follow the progress of Issie Pelc on his quest to run a marathon a month to raise funds
for cancer research at The Princess Margaret.

Issie's vision is to raise awareness that more needs to be done to help find a cure for
cancer and to help those affected by this disease. As a cancer survivor and a
beneficiary of the research that has been done so far, he is living proof that we can
CONQUER CANCER!

Cancer research over the years has resulted in increased survival rates for all kinds of
cancers. But obviously a lot more needs to be done!

With your help, important research can be funded so that survival rates can continue to
improve and someday a total cure can be found!

Please donate generously; millions of lives depend on it!

Funds donated to Issie's Quest at this time will be designated to Ovarian Cancer
Research.

A Word From Issie:

August 10, 2009

I just returned from Titusville, Pennsylvania where I ran the "Drake Well Marathon" last Sunday (August 9th).

This was a small local race; there were just over 100 finishers. The course was very scenic; mostly on a bike path through a natural wooded area. It was also quite challenging. For the first 2 miles there was an almost continuous climb of about 400 feet, followed by a descent of about 400 feet in the next mile and a half, and then another climb of the same magnitude for another 2 miles again followed by a descent to the original altitude. After mile 7 the remainder of the run consisted of mostly small rolling hills.

The weather created a major challenge as well as it was extremely humid during the run with a temperature of over 80F by the end of the race.
I guess the fact that I ran my previous marathon only 2 weeks prior did not help my performance either!

My finish time for this race was 4:50:42.

I have now completed 29 consecutive monthly marathons & 50 total lifetime marathons, so there are 10 left for me to run to complete this "quest". My next marathon is scheduled for September 27th in Toronto (Toronto Waterfront Marathon).

Again, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have supported me in my quest.

Please keep those pledges coming in and help spread the word to as many people as you can!

With your help we WILL conquer cancer!
