Skin cancer rates grow among younger women - Washington Post- msnbc.com

as many of my friends know i have dealt with skin cancer for years now having been lucky enough to survive major primary melanomas and 14 other forms of early skin cancer so far. my dr kids me that her goal is to keep me alive until a different cancer kills me. funny haha. i try not to rant about it, but here is another article about the increase in skin cancer. melanoma is something you don't want to have. if you are lucky enough to catch it early you may live; if not you face surgery and chemo and radiation. otherwise it still remains the deadliest cancer. stage 5 can leave you with 6 weeks to live. be careful about your sun exposure and use sun block. it takes 10 years of no melanomas to be considered cured. i am a long way from that still and i have dealt with this for over 12 years. i carry a picture of me running in a 5k race with no shirt on as a reminder. doctors still aren't sure about exercise and the effects on one's immune system and it seems to be that everytime i ramp up the training another primary is found. i will see about that again in sept. when i return to the states, having run about 2900 miles this year.
be careful!
