another rainy day and playing tourist

up and out early enough and then came back to get gail. morning heart rate was 47-not too bad, but i could tell during the first mile that yesterday's total of 16 miles plus the driving range had left the legs tired.

but got gail and we headed up to the church and then over through port meadow, still mostly under water from all of the rain. south down the river and my friend lorraine was sitting on her houseboat reading something by georgette heyer. she called out and her and gail got into a conversation about british historical novels for a bit and then we went on. down the trail of puddles, but the3 morning was nice enough and some sun was out. all the way down to the street and ran gail up towards the grocery store so she could get some croissants and i headed down osney island and over king george trail to add a few miles. ran all the way to the end an d turned around and then down to the bike path and back up osney to the main street and stopped at the store myself to pick up a few things. then home. tired but ok. no more pain than usual and stretched for awhile and had a little breakfast and while beth was getting up i went up to the driving range and hit one bucket of balls with the four clubs i brought with. better than yesterday and not as good as two days ago, but am figuring out some stuff.

back home as the rain started. we decided to live with the weather and headed to town to see the sights, world war monuments, art museum and libraries and some of the colleges. also toured christ church and the first gravestone we saw was john locke's. a very pretty church. i was impressed by the 6"6" knight that was buried in the church in 1336. funny what we think of as old in the usa.

left there and stopped to get some hot tea and a snack. then back home to rest up a bit and have some dinner. planned for tomorrow to try and get into the mozart concert we could not buy tickets for today. nice little dinner and here i am typing.

an ok day given the tough weather we walked several miles in and through. a good five miles of walking for sure. and we change the clocks ahead tonight here so another hour of sleep lost.

somewhere as i get ready to head off to sleep my friends julieta and mary kate are enjoying birthdays. and we are all another day older. all good !

ireland golf trip seems more than likely now. already looking forward to seeing more of ireland. also just found out i am going to cincinnati in october as well as erie and philly, a busy month. nice to plan out as it makes home seem closer than the 123 days to go.
