another typical day

casey is still up to bat here - every once in awhile you just have to take the bat off of your shoulder and swing. that has absolutely no relevance to anything i might say here, but it just popped into my mind.

anyway- i got up pretty early and went out to run and then double back to get gail. got an early two miles in and then we headed up to the church and then back over to the river. cold and pretty. the water moving quickly and very dark today. the swans and geese out as usual, but no other livestock.

we took it pretty easy-meaning even slower than normal and i could blame that on giving gail's heel a break, but in truth i was still tired from the weekend. down the river we went and gail headed home while i headed back over to the canal and did some pickups along the water while the boat people were starting their day and the smell of diesel and coal was abundant. always get a kick out of the potted plants on to of the long, narrow boats. noticed my friend lorraine had covered up the name of her boat. ??

anyway, the run got better for awhile and then boom- i came back to the land of this body has had enough. headed back to the grocery store to pick up some bread, yogurt and fruit. all in all a decent start to the day.

at home some more of the house started to break down. i do hope to get out of here while it still stands, though not sure we will have plumbing- which is iffy at best at this moment. did get to the store for light bulbs so we have light again in two rooms. normal stuff i can live with.

hit the bank- cost me $412.00 to get 200 pounds. it is truly like play money and you just have to not think about it. that isn't always easy of course when you realize that you paid $3.80 for a 10 oz bottle of diet coke.

we did go out to eat in our every other week mode. went to giraffe's, a decent little chain i might have mentioned before. had the giraffe special, meaning we were there early enough to save $16. still cost us $55 and you would laugh at what we got for that. i will not laugh however. play money, remember.

i should add that i was worse than my usual horrible at the range today. the swing is just gone for now. sure it was cold and windy but i kept getting trapped behind myself and blocked or hooked- just horrible.

at least the sleet and hail storm passed us by. and i had another 13 mile day. could be worse. 148 and a wakeup. no word on the cat yet as the owners are travelling to the usa. no rush for that either way bad choice.

btw- now have run 77,931 miles since i started to keep track. about three times around the world in 32 years and one month. works out to about 203 miles a month for 385 months. i could have read a lot of books in that time huh?

will be glad when the voting is over tomorrow. seems the writing is on the wall and it is time to see if the red and blue states stay that way. glad i miss all of the ads. we probably watch 3 hours of tv a week here.

how about a dodgers -yankees world series? phillies - red sox? go NATS!

time to go start packing.
