good and bad stuff

bad news first- i know how hard it must have been for the owner of the cat to decide to put the cat down, but given the latest diagnosis from the vet concerning the future possible recovery of Pendi the cat, that decision might have saved a great deal of future pain and suffering without any real hope of a decent life. sorry i am not there to help gail through this, but once the appt is made it will pass quickly.
a sweet little cat who had a nice 9+ years of loving care at least.

that decision came to me in an email after i had come in from my little 7 mile run. tired as i was and my legs seemed to be, i was able to just stay out there and enjoy the trail and the river while just trying to stay on cruise control and deal with some light breathing problems. must have been some allergens in the air.

did the entire run without seeing anyone else on the trail. not very usual when the weather is as nice as it was today. ran what we call the east blvd loop meaning i went north on the trail and over the bridge and headed back down east blvd and across the parkway. came south to the 20 second hill and did 10 times up and down the hill to wake the quads up. had a sudden and really bad pain in my right leg at 5 miles but it passed in about 15 seconds and i never felt anything there again for the last 2 miles. strange for sure.

homeward bound and did some stretching. then went straight to work and mowed the grass and headed over to home depot for some stone and dirt. laid the stones when i came home and saved the topsoil and stuff for the future planting of some waiting shrubs.

eventually headed over to the driving range and spent 2 hours putting and chipping. was able to help my friend herb with his chipping some. and just helping him helped me also. getting some feel back and i chipped pretty well mostly. given some time the short game will come back faster than the full swing, but that was better also.
i hit120 pitch shots and then worked on the full swing using j's guidance. mostly today i worked on turning from the sternum-like that swing thought as it makes the one piece takeaway more focused for me and pulls my knee in and helps me stay away from the reverse pivot i used to love and still fall back into sometimes. add a lighter grip and a later wrist cock and the ball was going further and higher. gave some hope for the future and was actually fun to practice again. has been awhile...

and that all brought me to right here right now.

got an email from the london marathon and it included this story which you have to love- Buster Martin from London, aged 101 years, aims to become the world's oldest marathon runner. I reckon only a British man can be able to realise such a goal. Buster successfully finished a half marathon recently. His time: 5:17 h.

A frequently asked question is how long the official finish registration will be open. Officially 8 hours gun time is published but a look at last year's results reveals that the last runner was registered after 9:58 h. However, I am sure organisers will provide a side finish gate for Buster after sunset.
----------------------- go get them buster-- but i don't understand that only a british man can do this.
having run 184 marathons i understand the challenge of that distance and cannot imagine how it feels to do it at 101. my own goal has always been to live to be 92 and shoot my age on a full golf course. would need about 32 putts and than have 60 shots to get around. sounds doable doesn't it? i will throw the party.

hope for a more energized blog tomorrow-
