a little bit of everywhere

gail and i went out to run on a pretty cold morning here today and we headed down to the river channel trail and up the thames and then over and through port meadow -most of which is still under water- and we ran through the 10 horses grazing, gently asking them to move over, as we headed up to burgess nature reserve. time allowed us only the short looping trail and after making sure we enjoyed the really pretty views, we headed back down through the meadow and over to the train trail. then we ran back to the just opened back up grocery store today- seems the local newspaper had gotten the opening date wrong(how typical a cynic would add here)- where i stopped long enough to help pick out some groceries and after she headed home, i headed back to the channel trail and over to the oxford canal. pretty along the canal and the punting boats were out in their glory getting ready to move the tourists around. came back down the canal and over the short bridge and into a loop of back trails behind the train station, and passed the rewley abbey site and over to the train station and onto and over the bridge across botley road, and then stopped at a different grocery store and bought some yougurt and finally headed home. ( long sentence huh?) all in all a nice little 8 mile run and glad i didn't have to give directions for it.

after breakfast gail headed off to the bodlean library and i went to the driving range, where i met my friend dave and we helped each other work on our swings. i started well enough, but i am lost now as to my golf swing and though i hit 200 balls trying, never got to where i needed to. in 34 degrees that was enough and i headed home to work on the laptop, which still doesn't work at lots of things.

less than 6 months to go. if attitude is everything or at least important, i have at best a tolerant one right now. recognizing i am stuck here i am bound to do what i can to make it work as best as it can. while there are those who tell me it isn't too bad and i can agree it isn't. nobody is shooting at me and i am not living in my truck- experiences i really wouldn't want to relive, not having it that bad is not having it good. this too shall pass as they say, though not soon enough, huge difference in being here for a few weeks and living here. one is a vacation and one is not.

bring me my house, backyard putting green, car and gym equipment and a pc that works; now add in my family and friends and make my dollar worth a dollar or close to it; now austin grille and taco belle even, and an occasional calzone and that would be a good starting point.

until then and to the consternation of some, i will count down the days while continuing to make do and enjoy.

tomorrow's run will be intersting if the weather front comes in, but hope it is less cold and windy then today. the wind knocked over cars on the ring road today-our version of the beltway.

back to working on whatever i can fix. and why does the spellcheck on the blog site not work now?
