up and down the river/happy birthday bill lusto!

happy birthday bill lusto in hopefully warm san jose! your humble servant applauds you.
and another ground hog's day is upon us. wonder if he saw his shadow?-------------

up and out reasonably early and in the cold. headed north and across the Perch fields and north on the river. started tight and tired but stretched out as i went. gail was strong from the start and we stayed together until i got a little looser and we separated by just a tad. sometimes it is just easier if we run to our own strides and go back and forth a bit then try to stretch out or cut back and change strides. went up to the last gate and turned and went back down the river all the way to botley road and over to the community center for my pit stop and then gail headed home and i went across the street to the osney trail and added the loop before stopping at the grocery store for croissants, an apple pastry and some extra yogurt. then home. about 7 miles in total. could not make myself stay out longer and that is one of the downsides from going out to run without a plan, but i wanted to just go out and do what i felt today.

note to myself: ran in my trail shoes and this is my 3rd and last pair; when i are not on the trail
they just seem to hard and i notice my long time heel spur doesn't love them.

* am looking forward to being back in dr cathy and cody's helpful clutches again.

gail had some work to do so after we ate and listened to some usa news podcasts, i headed to the range and hit some balls and figured out finally what i have to do to get my turn more consistent. will see if that holds true next time out.

turns out the blog site is having problems with spellcheck and it is not just my usual pc acumen getting me in trouble.

rumors have mc cain maybe picking huckagod as his running mate and what could be worse? at mc cain's age we cannot afford as a country to have god be our vice president. shame bill cannot run again! i find myself bedcoming openly more adamant about "stuff" and will keep an eye on that. at what age does one stop caring about what others think about what they think?

on a lighter note it is almost spring training time. the mets seems to have a made a greatttt!! trade getting santana for not very much at this point. and the lakers also seemed to have made a great trade but at higher cost (two 1st round draft choices, though they don't draft really high) and getting rid of brown and his contract is good for them. if brown ever grows up he could be helpful to someone, but not until what are the yankees and phillies doing?

i miss running to the harry anderson bridge and hope that the old number 9 is at peace.
